The Transition Class is a small group of young children that are now walking, learning language and developing coordination and skill building. They may not be ready for the older toddler /pre-primary but are developed beyond the infant stage.
Some children may only need to be in this group a few months before moving. Others may be more comfortable and their needs met over a longer period of time in this class of introduction to Montessori. This assesment is done with the parents and the teachers working together.
Most importantly, the Transition Class helps the parent to come to a better understanding of the philosophy of Montessori, how the child uses it for development, and why it is so beneficial to the young child's learning.
At this stage a foundation is made for attention to detail, sustained focus, respect for others, and group cooperation.
