Mother's Morning Out (MMO)

Infant During this young age, the child undergoes a tremendous developmental transformation. The child works hard to achieve upright equilibrium, as well as hand-eye coordination. Our Highlands Montessori School prepares this environmental support and encourages the phase of physical development towards independence.

We put great emphasis on the child's language development by using different materials to help increase vocabulary. Using descriptive language, songs, books, signing and the exposure to other children in a group fosters the use for language by the young child.

Research shows that music plays an important role in the development of the infant/young toddlers learning ability. We play classical music in the class room and we teach the children poems with hand motions. Another part of our music curriculum, is teaching the children rhythms on different musical instruments.

We respect the individual personality of the child. He/She is cared for in a calm and stimulating environment by a loving teacher. The Montessori philosophy is based on meeting each child's needs and helping to bring out his/her unique human potential during these early formative years.
